A high-Level delegation from WADA visited Qatar Anti-Doping Laboratory

A high-level delegation from The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) visited Anti-Doping Laboratory Qatar (ADLQ) on Thursday,17th March 2022 to discuss further cooperation and other issues of mutual interest in the area of anti-doping, including tailor-made training and research activities.

Led by President Mr.Witold Banka, The WADA delegation with many officials including Mr. Olivier Niggli, Director General, Mr. Rene Bouchard, Senior Director, Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships,Mr. Kazuhiro Hayashi, Director, Asia/Oceania Office, Mr. Rafal Piechota, Director, Office of the President, WADA, was given a comprehensive tour of the Lab’s facilities and briefed about the services it provides to the local and regional athletes.

Prof. (Dr.) Mohammed Al-Maadheed, Chairman of ADLQ, addressed the WADA Delegation virtually. An overview of the Anti-Doping laboratory was presented along with the visit to the laboratory wherein the delegation interacted with the staff members.

The discussion was held regarding the collaboration between the two organizations for strengthening the Anti-Doping program and research.

WADA delegation appreciated the facility and management for the infrastructure and the human resources.

The Anti-Doping Lab (ADL) Qatar was approved by the World Anti-Doping Association (WADA) and it is the first specialized laboratory of its kind in the Middle East. The state-of-the-art facility provides anti-doping testing for athletes across the Gulf region as well as West Asia.
